Super Yacht: M/Y Eclipse
M/Y Eclipse is due to be delivered to its owner, Roman Abramovich, in 2010. It is constructed by Blohm + Voss in Hamburg, Germany. At a length of 170 meters, Eclipse becomes the world's largest private yacht to date. Most recent release estimates the final costs to approach USD 1.2 billion. Whoa!
Eclipse boasts two helicopter pads, 11 guest cabins, two swimming pools, several hot tubs and a disco hall. She also comes equipped with three launch boats, and a mini-submarine that is capable of submerging to 50 meters. Approximately 70 crew members are needed to operate the yacht.
Security features of Eclipse include intruder detection systems and a German-built missile defense system. Bullet-proof glass and armor plating were also fitted to the windows of the master suite and the bridge. The eclipse even comes with an anti-paparazzi shield in the form of lasers that sweep the surroundings and release a bolt of light when a CCD is detected, obliterating any photograph!
