To buy or not to buy, that is the question
A friend and I went on a tour at a nearby condominium... They're supposedly selling out units as advertised outside the building. The price looked reasonable so we decided to take a peek.
As the broker was giving us a tour, I realized I really want a unit for myself. The location is good, the amenities also. Plus, they will be erecting a new tower early next year and pre-selling new units... meaning, no down payment needed!
But then, as I think about this decision even more, I realized a few points:
- I am growing old and now feels the urge to invest my hard-earned money to something concrete
- but then, I don't know if I can shoulder a responsibility as big as this
- at age 26 I am still not that stable financially, hence the second point
- what if i get to be married (a big WHAT IF, by the way) and starts to raise a family of my own... I don't really want my children to live at a condo unit, I want them to run wild and free at a huge yard, preferably not here in the city. Even if it means I have to travel for hours from home to work.
- in relation to point number 4, what if i get to marry before I ever finish paying for the unit. Getting married means my future-husband and I will have to pay bills and all other financial obligations (e.g. car loan, housing loan, etc) we incurred during singleblessedness.
- I also have my present family to think of... two siblings still in college and plans of building our dream home finally... and what if an emergency turns up?
The complexities of growing up
