Fixed! well, not really
My dysfunctional bathroom faucet (we've been using pliers to turn it on/off as the knob has broken off) has really taken its toll on me so yesterday, B and I bought a new set of faucet. I was planning to ask our maintenance to replace the faucet for me but whilst doing my nightly ritual last night, I really felt enough is enough. I decided to be a lady plumber for the moment. I didn't bother to turn the main water switch off as it is already midnight and the main switch has been locked by the maintenance. I noticed that I can twist the faucet head using my bare hands so I proceeded on removing it. Lo and behold! A great fountain of water spurted out of the PVC pipe! I didn't realize water pressure is that high even at the second floor level of my apartment.
I then proceeded with coating the new faucet screw with teflon tape.
After this, the laborious task of fighting with water began. Water really is a tough thing to fight with... Screwing the faucet head into the PVC pipe was a nightmare! I ended up taking a shower again, clothes on, with water coming from below, not above. A great burst of water even entered my eyes and left me hurting. I had to ask B to turn on all the other faucets at the first level of our apartment to relieve pressure so I can screw the faucet on.
Finally, I succeeded!
New faucet installed! But still leaking, this time at the faucet-PVC pipe junction. I must have put an insufficient amount of teflon tape on the screw. Uggghhh... I really need to call maintenance.
On a brighter note, I don't get irritated using pliers to turn the faucet on now =)
